Restrain system wins prestigious awardThe Restrain System specifically designed for the production and maintenance of a stable atmosphere of Ethylene within a store has been named winner of the Royal Agricultural Society of England's New Machinery Award for 2004 in the Arable Sector. Nick Gilford, who collected the award on behalf of the newly formed Restrain Company, commented “We are delighted to receive this award, it is a fitting reward for many years hard work by a number of people in Greenvale AP and International Controlled Atmospheres”. The Restrain System has been running successfully in commercial storage for the past 3 years and provides a cost-effective solution for producing and maintaining a stable atmosphere of Ethylene within large or small stores without modifications. This current storage season has seen the Restrain System being used to maintain over 40,000 tonnes in an Ethylene atmosphere in some 40 stores of varying capacity. Paul Coleman, Head of Technology & Agronomy at Greenvale AP, said “The Restrain System has an emphasis on ease of use, incorporating new but reliable, robust and safe technology. The Restrain System simply requires a 13amp socket in store and just “Plugs in”. It has been designed with busy people in mind and engineered to work in dusty storage environments”. Alan Owens, Chief Executive of Greenvale AP, added “Our business constantly strives to meet the challenges of the fresh produce industry and develop market leading solutions. We have a number of technology projects which will be brought to the market place in the coming years. We have been actively encouraged by Tesco to further develop the Restrain system, broadening its application to other areas of the industry confirming the versatility ofthe Restrain technology”.
